Employment Engagement

Everyone is talking about employee engagement; there is lots of information out there to read. But the
real question is; “What are you doing about it in your company?”

Attracting top talent is tough and you have invested time and money into making good decisions but
once you have these great people how are you going to keep them?

As people we have basic needs; Food, water, shelter etc …
We also have wants; respect, safety/trust, esteem/appreciation etc…

As an employer the challenge is; how do you meet the needs and wants of your employees? When these
needs and wants are met people will be more productive, engaged and happier. This will allow your
employees to be focused on the goals of the company.

A few tips you can start doing today in your business to build employee engagement that will meet
some of the needs and wants:

Respect
Ask for opinions, ideas and listen to them.
Show your people you value them by taking genuine interest.
Have great leaders in your company.

Trust
Avoid micromanaging your people
Give realistic goals, guidelines and let them do what you hired them to
Offer flexible work schedules

Appreciation
Communication with your people about their performance and that of the company
Ensure your leadership team recognize the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
Thank your people
Shelter
